Final days in Kaposvar, First few days in Balatonfenyves

Note: We are fine. To everyone who called, emailed, whatsapped, marcopoloed, etc. - thank you! We appreciate you checking in. Angel and Addy flew back for a few days. Addy needed to start school and Angel needed to catch up on some work. My Mom and Grandmother are taking care of Addy in our absence. Angel has returned, the computer is in Hungary, and we can now update the blog once again! 😄

Saturday, September 1 - Tuesday, September 4

Our final few days in Kaposvar were spent on the trampoline, at the playground, and - a treat for the final evening - playing in the water. Addy and Caleb had done this before Tomas officially came into our care and had begged to do it again every day since. So as a final farewell, we let them play, splash, and frolic to their hearts' content!

After everyone was all bathed and dried, we made omelets for dinner.

The next day we headed to Lake Balaton, the largest lake in central Europe. Our apartment is located on the lake's southwest corner in a tourist town called Balatonfenyves. Now our our 30-day countdown has officially begun! In the next month, we will have several visits from the social worker, visit Budapest to begin the paperwork on Tomas's visa, and will return to Kaposvar on October 1 to finalize the adoption!

We are staying in the yellow house of the left. The property manager generously allowed Angel to use his little office - located in front - when he teaches online.

The social worker met us when we arrived in Balatonfenyves to ask about Tomas's transition into our family, making sure he and all is well. After lunch and nap, we headed out to play!

Now, for groceries. Google maps lead us to a Spar grocery store. Not a close walk, but not too far away either. This is what we found when we arrived -

Nyvita = Closed
And, with no food stocked on the shelves, I guess it is indefinitely. Oh the distraught look in their faces! The upside is, we hit up a food stand on the way home - turned those frowns upside down!

We did manage to find a grocery store the following day. We passed a few sunflowers during our walk. I do believe we just missed sunflower season here in Hungary. Many of the sunflower fields we passed traveling back and forth to Tomas's foster home were droopy or gone. I can only imagine how beautiful they must have been just weeks earlier.

Two more positives about our new living arrangement: a washing machine and a fenced-in yard. After our morning walk to the store, the kids played outside while we caught up on some laundry. We are settling in to our new "home" nicely.
